Canvas (Braze)

Also known as: braze canvas · journey builder

Braze's visual journey builder — a node-based flow diagram where each node is a message, delay, conditional split, or experiment branch, used to build multi-step lifecycle programs without code.

Canvas is Braze's named visual journey builder. A Canvas is a directed graph of nodes: message nodes (email, push, SMS, in-app), delay nodes (time-based or date-anchored), decision nodes (attribute-based, event-based, or random-split for experiments), and exit nodes. Users enter a Canvas via a trigger — usually an event, segment entry, or scheduled cohort — and move through the graph based on the logic. Canvas supports features the older Campaigns interface doesn't: long-running multi-step sequences, conditional splits that branch per user, holdout groups for incrementality testing, and variation testing at the flow level. Canvas has two versions: "Classic" (older, still used in many workspaces) and "Flow" (newer, more flexible). For lifecycle programs with 3+ messages or any conditional logic, Canvas is the right tool over individual Campaigns.
